Our [Everything and Clinical skills plans](https://app.geekymedics.com/purchase/bundles/) both include AI credits, as do OSCE Stations and SCA cases subscriptions. [AI credits](https://app.geekymedics.com/purchase/ai-credits/) unlock access to advanced AI features on the Geeky Medics platform. These features are designed to offer a more realistic, immersive learning experience - especially when practising with our virtual patients, examiners, and AI-enhanced tools. --- ## What do AI credits unlock? AI credits are required for the following features: * **Audio consultations** - real-time spoken conversations with a virtual patient * **Video consultations** - face-to-face consultations with an on-screen video avatar * **AI examiner feedback** - if you don’t have an [OSCE Stations subscription](https://app.geekymedics.com/purchase/osce-stations/) * **OSCE station generation** - once your free generations are used up * **AI tutor** - once your free messages are used up * **AI flashcard generation** - based on the number of flashcards you generate * **AI quiz generation** - based on the number of questions you generate * **Flashcard AI suggestions** - writing the back of a flashcard from the front || If you have an [OSCE Stations subscription](https://app.geekymedics.com/purchase/osce-stations/) (or a plan containing OSCE stations), the **AI examiner feedback** is included for all OSCE stations. --- ## How many AI credits do I need? AI credits are only used when you interact with features powered by our advanced AI. ### Number of AI credits required | Feature | Credit cost | | ---- | | Audio consultation (real-time voice) | 4 credits per session, up to 15 minutes | | Video consultation (video avatar) | 15 credits per session, up to 10 minutes | | AI examiner feedback (if no OSCE stations subscription) | 1 credit per checklist marked by AI + 1 credit per AI-generated free text feedback | | AI quiz generation | 1 credit per 10 questions, plus 2 credits if you upload a PDF | | AI flashcard deck generation | 1 credit per 10 flashcards, plus 2 credits if you upload a PDF | | Flashcard ‘Suggest with AI’ | 0.5 credits per suggestion | | AI tutor | 50 free messages, then 1 credit per 10 messages | | AI OSCE station generation | 3 credits per generation, once your free allowance is used | Audio and video consultations cost more because they use significantly more AI resource than our text-based patients. --- ## How many credits do I get with my plan? | Plan | AI credits included | | ---- | | Everything | 200 a year, or 50 a month | | Clinical skills | 100 a year, or 25 a month | | Data interpretation | None | **OSCE Stations** and **SCA cases** subscriptions also include AI credits each month. You can top up at any time with a one-off credit pack from the [AI credits page](https://app.geekymedics.com/purchase/ai-credits/). Your new credits will be added instantly. --- ## Do my AI credits expire? Yes. AI credits expire 12 months after they’re added to your account. If you have credits from more than one source, we always use your oldest credits first. You can see the date your earliest credits expire on the **Billing** tab of your [Settings](https://app.geekymedics.com/account-settings/) page. --- ## How do I start a spoken consultation? When you start a virtual patient, you’ll be asked how you’d like to interact with them: * **Text** - type messages back and forth. Free, no credits needed * **Audio** - a real-time voice conversation, 4 credits, up to 15 minutes * **Video** - face-to-face with a video avatar, 15 credits, up to 10 minutes You can also choose the consultation language from the same screen. || Real-time voice and video need microphone access and a recent version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge. If your browser isn’t supported, you can still use text mode. --- ## Can I still use virtual patients without AI credits? Yes. Text consultations are always free. Without AI credits your virtual patients will: * Only reply using text * Use our standard AI model * Not support the AI examiner unless you have an OSCE Stations subscription Purchasing AI credits is completely optional, but it unlocks a more advanced simulation experience. --- ## Why can’t I start a video consultation? Video mode is a subscriber perk. As well as having enough AI credits, you’ll need an active plan, or an OSCE Stations or SCA cases subscription. It’s also only available on stations that have a patient avatar set up. --- ## Where can I see how many credits I have left? You can view your remaining credit balance: * At the bottom of the sidebar * On the **Billing** tab of your [Settings](https://app.geekymedics.com/account-settings/) page * When you start a virtual patient consultation * On the [AI credit purchase page](https://app.geekymedics.com/purchase/ai-credits/) --- ## What happens when I run out? If you run out of AI credits, you’ll be offered the choice of switching to text mode or topping up. Text consultations remain free, but audio, video and our other AI features will be unavailable until you top up. You can top up at any time from the [purchase page](https://app.geekymedics.com/purchase/ai-credits/). Your new credits will be added instantly. --- ## Do AI credits change the OSCE station content? No. The OSCE scenarios remain the same.
