How do I set up group practice mode for SCA cases and circuits?

Group Practice Mode allows you to practise SCA cases with others, either in person or remotely. It is available for every case in our SCA case bank.

Group Practice Mode is not compatible with virtual patients or virtual examiners.

How to set up Group Practice Mode for a single SCA case

1. Open the SCA case you want to practise
2. On the ‘How would you like to practise this case?’ screen, choose Group practice
3. Share the Session PIN or Join link with your study partners, or ask them to scan the QR code. They can also join using Join group practice in the sidebar
4. Assign roles (candidate, examiner, patient, or observer) using the dropdown menu
5. Click Start group practice
6. Everyone will be redirected to the appropriate screen for their role - for example, the candidate sees candidate instructions, the patient sees the patient script, etc.
7. If you’re practising remotely, use Zoom or another video tool so you can hear each other - or use our built-in chat room, linked in the same panel

How to set up Group Practice Mode for an SCA circuit

1. Open SCA cases in the sidebar, choose Circuits, and find the circuit you want to practise
2. Click Start circuit, then choose Group practice
3. Share the Session PIN or Join link with your study partners, or ask them to scan the QR code
4. Assign roles (candidate, examiner, patient, or observer) using the dropdown menu
5. Click Start group practice - each participant will be redirected to the relevant view
6. If you’re practising remotely, don’t forget to set up Zoom or open our chat room
7. At the end of each case, the examiner moves everyone on to the next case in the circuit. You’ll be offered the chance to reassign roles as you go

What happens if the host leaves?

If the person who started the session disconnects, another member of the group can take over as host so you can carry on practising.
