How do I practise OSCE stations solo?

Our OSCE Stations platform is great for solo practice. You can work through stations at your own pace, or use our AI-powered virtual patients and examiners to build your skills.

Finding a station

In the sidebar, open OSCE stations & virtual patients and choose OSCE stations. You can also go straight to the full station bank.

Starting a station on your own

Click the station you’d like to practise. You’ll be asked ‘How would you like to practise this station?’ and given three options:

• Solo practice - work through the station on your own
• Virtual patient - interact with an AI-powered virtual patient
• Group practice - work through the station with a group

Choose Solo practice.

What you'll see in solo practice

The station is laid out in tabs so you can move between sections as you work - the candidate, patient and examiner instructions, the examiner checklist, Questions and Candidate resources, depending on what the station includes. There’s also an All tab if you’d rather scroll through everything on a single page.

A few things worth knowing:

• The patient script is collapsed by default, so you can reveal it when you’re ready
• The diagnosis stays hidden until you choose to reveal it
• You can use the built-in timer to simulate exam conditions

Practising with our virtual patients

Our AI-powered virtual patients are ideal for developing communication and history taking skills.

When you choose Virtual patient, you pick how you’d like to consult:

• Text - type messages back and forth. Free
• Audio - a real-time spoken conversation. 4 AI credits, up to 15 minutes
• Video - face-to-face with a video avatar. 15 AI credits, up to 10 minutes

Practising with our virtual examiners

Alongside virtual patients, our virtual examiners can assess your performance. They will:

• Mark you against the examiner checklist
• Provide individual, constructive feedback, especially around communication skills

After a virtual patient consultation, click End consultation and choose AI marking to have the examiner mark your checklist.
